When it comes to achieving your best personal wellness, sometimes it’s the things you don’t do that can end up doing you in. Let’s look at some of the things you may be ignoring that could make the difference in improving your life.

Stop Saying Yes to Everything

It can be tempting to reply in the affirmative whenever someone asks for a favor, especially if it’s someone you like or respect. That doesn’t mean it’s in your best interest, though, and there are some consequences to avoiding the word ‘no’. When you take on projects you don’t truly have the time for, you could end up exhausted and physically run down. Even worse, if you get involved in something you have no interest in, you may end up resentful, which could have a significant impact on your emotional health. Replying to someone with a short but kind “yes” or “no” answer within 24 hours is best.

Stop Neglecting Your Surroundings

Are things in your home starting to look a little cluttered? For example, is that pile of unopened mail grown past the point of no return? If so, you need to get a handle on everything and eliminate some of the “bad energy” that may have gathered as a result. So, identify which areas of your house are cluttered, get rid of the things you don’t need, clean it from ceiling to floor, and organize the items you wish to keep. Before long, you’ll discover that you’ve regained control of your surroundings — and eliminated stress and anxiety as a result!

Stop Ignoring Your Social Circle

Depending on what you may have going on in your life, it may seem impossible to find time for your friends. You may feel that putting off a night out is saving your much-needed energy, but there are some serious benefits to social interaction, according to Medical News Today. Studies have found that when you go out with your friends, you experience a decrease in your stress and anxiety levels. You also sharpen your brain, making it easier for you to remember things. If you’re on a budget, consider affordable options such as going camping, having a picnic or visiting a museum. If you’re a little more flexible, there are even more social activities that you can enjoy like going to a concert, taking a road trip and going berry picking.

Stop Putting Your Nutrition on the Backburner

When we have a lot of things on our plate, one thing that tends to suffer is our nutritional health. Don’t let this happen to you. The first thing you should do is keep certain healthy ingredients in your kitchen so that you can quickly whip up dishes that are good for you. Canned soup, canned tuna, eggs, and granola are some of the items that can easily be used in a dish or eaten as a snack. Meals like tomato basil soup and quinoa bowls are healthy meals that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less. Even if you’re making the effort to prepare healthy meals, it would still be advantageous to take a daily multivitamin.

Stop Putting Off Exercise

Exercise is also something that gets kicked to the curb when we get busy and feel strapped for time or energy. There are different types of exercise open to you, and you should find the ones that work best for you. You can choose from aerobics, strength training or flexibility exercises, and while you don’t have to become a work-out fiend to feel the impact on your overall health, it helps if you’re consistent.  When you exercise regularly, you decrease your risk of heart disease, improve your mood and sharpen your mental skills.

Your personal well-being is important, so don’t let it fall apart by ignoring some of the simple things that you could easily fit into your schedule. Make those changes and enjoy the way they make you feel.
